Stüssy’s Spring 2019 Collection

Stüssy’s Spring 2019 collection is filled with the brand’s psychedelic sportswear and workwear from past season, done in a bold palette. There’s also a playful interpretation os some of the West Coast’s more sleazy elements. Eagle emblazoned tour jackets, leather vests and cocktail shirts stand out as some examples that some still think make the West Coats wild, all reinvented to fit into the modern world. Over the past few seasons Stüssy has offered pieces that are both modern and timeless. The latest collection honors the past while reinterpreting the future, getting the cut and fabrics of iconic silhouettes like the Garage Jacket and Zip-Up shirt just right. This Spring range has a solid offering of patterned shirts and tees, with some of the outerwear options being clear stand outs, like the long leopard coat, the tie-dye pull over fleece and the red bomber with an eagle embroidery. The collection is tailored, relaxed and infused with psychedelia for a great execution of contemporary streetwear while honoring the brand’s past seasonal aesthetics.

Champion, Streetwear’s Break Out Star

The Champion name has been as ubiquitous as Levi’s, at some point or the other each brand has existed in our closets. But there was a time that Champion was bought at K-mart. Most Champion hoodies weren’t just Champion brand, they were hoodies that had the familiar “C” logo at the wrist but boasted logos of football teams, or company logos worn on retreats. It has been a brand that has been favored by athletes on and off the fields since the 1920s, and as early as the ’70s was adopted as a streetwear brand. The Champion hoodie has been a blank canvas of expression and promotion. Fashion has become increasingly fixated with the merge of comfort and style, allowing many sportswear brands to tap into new markets. Champion is one of those classic athletic labels that now offer a more modern alternative that maintains comfort and takes on a certain versatility to increase its appeal to the style enthusiasts. During the ’90s Champion saw a boost in demand due to consumers being influenced by the music and streetwear culture. The heavyweight, and underrated, line of athletic gear continues to be introduced to new generations, new consumers. Decades later Champion is still widely recognized as a pioneer of the sweatshirt. The brand is progressing nicely, with their new and fresh range of clothes. Champion produces some of the best streetwear due to their combination of classic aesthetic and innovative design. Big name collaborations has elevated the brand from their days on racks at department stores. With the rise of the athliesure trend and streetwear, Champion has quickly become a star. Stand out label Vetements collaborated with the brand, taking them to another level. Vetements enlisted the brand because of their high quality products, despite the low price point, but without the meager price point Champion wouldn’t be as iconic. Vetements took a Champion hoodie from $25 to $1,000, which played on the consumer’s love for nostalgia, whats new and highly sough after. Streetwear brands like Stüssy have teamed up with Champion as well, allowing the younger streetwear set to get to know the brand that has been around forever. Although Champion has become a recent hit with street stylers and the fashion set, due to its knowledge of what their consumer wants—producing quality products is what has allowed the brand to transcend the times.

Stussy continues to show that their women range is just as strong as their mens. The brand’s mens pieces can easily be worn by the ladies, but their women range gives the ladies pieces that they would steal from their boyfriends, just in their sizes. The brand released a few images of the women’s collection, and it seems like the outerwear are the stars. With its SoCal roots, the coach jacket is no surprise, but the orange bomber styled with the red hoodie fits right into the fashion meets street wear vibe currently happening right now. The bomber is looks cozy and chic, perfect for the cold New York City days ahead.

Stussy Summer 2016

The cold weather is officially behind us and Stussy has a collection that’s perfect for the season. As usual the streetwear brand sticks to their SoCal roots. The collection delivers Stussy’s classic West Coast vibe, with vibrant colors and graphics on tees, tanks and hoodies, as well as patterned prints on button-ups. There is an array of fabrics throughout the drop, from nylon to fleece. Surprisingly for a summer drop, the standouts are the outerwear pieces, like the pastel pink coach jacket, the baja inspired hoodie with Stussy branding and the washed out long sleeve striped tee with a retro photo on the front. Although there are a nice offering of lightweight outerwear pieces for the SoCal evenings, the drop is filled with streetwear summer essentials, with updated takes on classic sportswear like short sleeved wovens.
