ScHoolboy Q talks Early Beginnings

With the release of Schoolboy Q’s Oxymoron approaching, Q catches up with hip hop analyst and hot 97 radio show host Peter Rosenberg to discuss his earlier works and how he got into the game.

Listen below another single released off Oxymoron, releasing February 25th.

New Music: A$AP Nast – Trillmatic

New Music: Khary Durgans – AHOY!

New visuals from rap artist Khary Durgans off his upcoming project Love and Anchors slated to release February 2014. The song is called ”AHOY!” and is based around descending on into a new life/ideals. I’m all for new music and originality so vibe to it.

Kanye West Performs “Bound 2″ Live on Jimmy Fallon

Kanye West stopped in at the studio Monday, where he performed “Bound 2″ with Charlie Wilson, The Roots and a baby choir (awww). I’ve missed this candid Kanye outside of his epic concert performances, this is the transparency we all know and love him for. Uh huh, honey.

Side note be on the lookout for flight jackets hitting the streets as a major trend, mark my words.

Big Sean – Control f. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica (prod. No I.D.)

So Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s ‘Control’ set the internet ablaze after Funkmaster Flex dropped it last night.

I’m usually homeboys with the same ni**as I’m rhymin’ with/ But this is hip-hop and them ni**as should know what time it is. And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big K.R.I.T, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Mill, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Big Sean, Jay Electron, Tyler, Mac Miller/ I got love for you all, but I’m tryna murder you ni**as/ Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you ni**as/ They don’t wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you ni**as.”

Critics say he’s coming at fellow rappers and single handedly proclaimed himself the King of the Rap Game. I disagree, Kendrick is simply keeping healthy competition alive within hip hop. After all the buddy-buddy happenings of recent weeks (Dame/Jay, Ma$e/Diddy) I think it was perfect to throw a little controversy back into the mix in a positive way. As far as this ‘changing the rap game’…I’d say it will just illicit responses from those mentioned and others who may perhaps feel threatened.

I’m a little shocked that Jay Electronica’s voice even being heard on a track didn’t blow peoples minds. Maybe I’m just a super fan?

Listen to the track in full below.

Ab-Soul “Terrorist Threats” ft. Danny Brown & Jhene Aiko

Great song, greater message.

Kendrick Lamar – Rigamortis

Just a random K.dot selection to vibe to during this “inclement weather” we’re having.

It’s amazing how much of an effect someone can have on you without ever knowing them personally. And even more intriguing how they can expand your thoughts and mindset through their musical message. The loss of Jamal Dewar aka Capital STEEZ this past Christmas Eve was a great one not only to the plight of hip hop music but to his family and musical collective ProEra. Be sure to clear your mind and listen to track I believe is an integral part of consciousness amongst youth.
