Happy Pride!

Pride events have been happening around the world all month, and rounding out the month’s festivities is the New York City Pride parade this upcoming weekend, back to where it all started. New York was the birthplace of Pride in 1970, a year after the famous Stonewall Riots, which lasted three days and where LGBT people resisted police discrimination. It was a moment that’s marked as the start of the modern day gay liberation movement. Pride was originally a political demonstration to voice LGBT demands for equal rights, over the years that same message is still in place, along with it being a celebration of queer life, as well as a political and social demonstration. So as the festivities this weekend will be a celebration of some of the progress made for the LGBTQ community, lets not forget where it all began.Screen Shot 2019-06-27 at 3.07.34 PM
