Nike Air More Uptempo Knicks

Although the sneaker was never worn by a Knick during the ’90s, the Nike Air More Uptempo Knicks sneaker is inspired by the classic Chicago Bulls and New York Knicks rivalry in the ’90s, more so between Pippen and Ewing, as the sneaker boasts the number 33, which was worn by both players. Featuring a white leather upper with royal blue AIR lettering on the sides, while orange accents are found on the tongue, heel and outsole to complete the NY Knicks theme. Scottie Pippen and Patrick Ewing’s 33 is embroidered on the heel to complete the look. The release keeps that classic ’90s basketball sneaker look in tact. These will be available at rime locations on September 21st.

Nike’s Los Primeros Collection

Nike is celebrating Latin Heritage Month with the Los Primeros collection. Latin Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15, and Nike has decided to release the four silhouettes of the collection over the time of the month. Each model is created in partnership with four Latino street artists. Each sneaker comes with special graphics on the upper as well as the accompanying shoe bags. Rime is set to release the Air Max 1 on September 15 and the Cortez on the 22nd. The Air Max 1 is reworked by Chilean artist WASAFU, whose murals can be found around Santiago Chile. His signature style comes from his coupled passion for art and architecture. Inspired by nomads, particularly the On a People of Patagonia, who for centuries have migrated from unforgiving conditions seeking opportunity and hope. WASAFU’s artwork on The Air Max 1 is a representation of their self-expression through ceremonial body paint. The bold red and white stripes contrasts nice against the clean white and grey geometric pattern. Another Chilean artist takes over the rework of the Cortez silhouette, INTI takes his name from the Incan sun god and the Quechua word for the sun, as a homage to his Chilean roots. His work reflects the cities of Chile, where expressive Latin music and chaotic cityscapes allows art to thrive. His design on the cortez is made of patches and symbols of different cultures of the Americas, coming together in on design, depicting the American continent as a single territory. The all over purple pattern is broken up by black suede accents, a solid purple Swoosh and the artist’s name on the heels in white. The WASAFU Air Max 1 is available at rime locations on September 15 and the INTI Cortez is available on the 22nd.

The New It Shoe, The Nike Cortez.

The Nike Cortez silhouette is one of those vintage silhouettes making a comeback, even Vogue.com saw the sneaker coming back around. Stan Smith’s has been the retro sneaker of choice, but with the likes of It Girl Bella Hadid fronting the latest Cortez campaign celebrating the 45th anniversary of the shoe, the sneaker has been showcased to a new set of consumers, who will love it just as those in the 70s did. Since it’s debut in 1972, the innovative running sneaker was loved with its simplicity, durability and comfort. Like the Stan Smith, that has garnered love from the fashion set, the Cortez is loved for its understated design and comfy feel. The sneaker has been a favorite of runners, part of television shows and movies, like Forrest Gump, it also has a cultural significance in West Coast hip-hop street style. What makes the Cortez so great is its versatility, which is seen in the latest campaign with Bella, as she lounges in a car wearing a slip dress with the Cortez or riding a skateboard, much like that famous picture of Farrah Fawcett wearing the same silhouette on a skateboard back in the day. What propels the Cortez silhouette on the same level as the Stan Smith is its ability to be versatile, to look cool with a suit, jeans or a dress. rime locations has iterations of the Cortez silhouette.
