Marcelo Burlon started the line County Of Milan while traveling as a DJ. He first started with a few mens geometrically patterned tees, which quickly became some of the most desirable pieces on the market. He eventually branched out into womenswear and the outcome is just as sensational as the mens stuff, if not better. The very young brand’s pieces are very unisex, which may be why the women’s pieces stand out so well. The shapes and prints are refreshing for street wear. Burlon says his graphics are a means of communication, the best way to express his aesthetic and roots. The Patagonia native uses striking animal print motifs, the animals represent the primal origins of humans. The animals used in the prints are usually native to Patagonia pr South America. In an age of Internet Globalization where subcultures seem to exist, Burlon says he’s much more inspired by the weirdos and street kids who manage to stand out from the masses. The pieces are definitely for any street wear aficionado looking to be bold.
The classic Nike Air Force 1 High is texturized for the Hot Lava edition, which was part of the Tonal pack. The sneaker is covered in a vibrant red, almost neon color and the scaly leather base adds a cool vibe, because it adds a slight glisten to it. The Nike branding at the sides are done in a lacquered red and the translucent sole rounds out the overall look. This bold take on the iconic sneaker is available at RIME.

French twins Maxime and Alexandre, seventh generation descendants of the Hermés family, are behind the philanthropic brand Twins For Peace. Instead of just simply creating exceptional clothes, the duo are trying to better the world with every collection. The twins have travelled around the world to bring clothes to impoverished children and spread the brand’s motto, Be Cool Be Good. The brand started with a unisex canvas shoe in 2009. Since then it has extended to fifty different styles of sneakers, a small ready to were line and an accessories line. And theres a flagship store in Paris where you can shop everything from the brand. The brand has already gifted shoes to over 10,000 children in different countries. Each shoe is inspired by people the twins come across that have a connection to charity organizations. The duo visits countries and gets to know children through organizations and are inspired that way. They also purchase the materials locally, adding to the country’s economy. The twins credit the time of childhood as a present and fundamental inspiration. The materials used for the footwear are luxe and incorporate techniques of organizations they’re working with, like hand beading . Patterns, prints and vibrant colors are always a stable. Check out some of my faves below.
For May’s issue of InStyle, SZA, graces the pages in all her natural curls and freckled glory. The Alt-R&B singer dons some offbeat fashion for the magazine, very much like her music’s sound. Signing with Top Dawg Entertainment, the only female on the label, kickstarted her carer. She discusses her upcoming album, A, which is a follow up to the successful Z. Her dreamy sound has become a go to for stoners and helped recreate R&B, propelling such sounds like hers and Tinashe into the newly Alt-R&B category. There is no denying her vocal and lyrical prowess. Her big natural curls, which via her Instagram I learned has been dyed a lovely red, is her trademark. It’s nice to see that the fashion world is also showing interest in this standout artist.
The Los Angeles started XLARGE has a following due to the brands roots in hip-hop and downtown culture from the 90s. Married to the Mob is a New York City based streetcar brand designed by women for women. The collaboration between the two sounds like a merry marriage. The women’s capsule collection takes on a brash and bold vibe, traits of both brands. XLARGE’s iconic monkey print is merged with Baywatch-esque MTTM bathing suit. MTTM”S signature bold red lip is purposely scattered about among the classic XLARGE green camouflage pattern and made into a bucket hat and nylon jacket. Great pieces for a look that’s inspired by the movie Kids.
Camper Together is a division under Camper shoes that collaborates with breakthrough designers to create exclusive products. Through design, the collaborators blend cultures and uniques design into the products. Since 2009, Bernard Wilhelm and Camper’s collaboration has gained a following. Wilhelm’s colorful, gender-neutral designs shines in the latest collaboration between the brand and Camper. The himalayan silhouette from previous collabs becomes a sandal for spring/summer. The chunky sandal features the signature zigzag sole, as well as velcro straps. Although the sandals are in men’s sizes, no surprise coming from Wilhelm, he likes to give his customers options, which means anyone gets a chance to rock the style forward footwear.
As the warmer months approach, Nike releases their women’s Benassi sandal. The slider style sandal is made out of a light material staying just as comfortable as the previous models. This time around the sandal comes in two simple color ways, all black and a white and tan combo. It also features a leather strap across the front of the foot with an embossed Nike logo. Perfect for the summer months.
For the female sneaker heads that don’t like sandals and might need to let their feet breathe in the hot summer weather, Nike has created the Lunarsandiator. The look of the footwear is inspired by the sandal, gladiator ones to be exact, with the comfort of a sneaker, hence the name. The shoe extends above the ankles, giving it that Gladiator sandal effect. The cut outs gives a great peek-a-boo effect, giving glimpses to the skin. The closure is a zipper at the heel and the Lunarlon cushioned sole, with its geometric folds rounds out the shoe for great comfort. Available at RIME.
